5 Quotes for Your Monday

There are two types of people in the world: the type that love Mondays and the type that loathe Mondays.

I am a firm believer that everyone can and should love Mondays. Mondays are the start of the week, the first day of the sequence. The success, productivity and outcome of your entire week can rest on how much effort you put into your Monday.

Every Monday, I start the day off early reading articles from Mashable, Entrepreneur, Seth Godin and so on and so forth. Thanks to the article, 50 Inspirational Quotes for Entrepreneurs and Start-Ups, I decided to throw together my top 5 inspirational and work-related quotes to share and the takeaways I plan to keep in mind this week.

“The critical ingredient is getting off your butt and doing something. It’s as simple as that. A lot of people have ideas, but there are few who decide to do something about them now. Not tomorrow. Not next week. But today. The true entrepreneur is a doer, not a dreamer.”

–Nolan Bushnell, Entrepreneur

“Ideas are easy. Implementation is hard.”

–Guy Kawasaki, Alltop Co-Founder and Entrepreneur

“What do you need to start a business? Three simple things: know your product better than anyone, know your customer, and have a burning desire to succeed.”

 –Dave Thomas, Founder, Wendy’s

“The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into smaller manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.”

–Mark Twain, American Humorist and Author

The biggest mistake that you can make is to believe that you are working for somebody else…The driving force of a career must come from the individual. Remember: Jobs are owned by the company, you own your career!

– Earl Nightingale, Motivational Speaker

My Take-Aways:

  • DO things this week. Don’t think about things, or merely plan to do things – actually do them. Start now.
  • When you have an idea, follow through with it. Even if it’s crazy, or huge, or minuscule. Ideas are great, but without implementation, they’re just words.
  • Create a to-do list and start scratching things off. Don’t stare at the entire list, stare at each individual task and check them off one at a time.
  • Be passionate about what you do and do your due diligence. Know your product, care about it enough to propel yourself to change the marketplace.
  • You own your own career and the next eight hours of the workday are yours for the taking. Own your workday, own your workweek and own your career.
