OTM Salutes Our Volunteers

OTM Salutes Our VolunteersMan cannot live on marketing alone. I mean, I guess you could, but it’d be a pretty one-dimensional existence. As much as we love all things marketing at OTM, we love multidimensional lifestyles even more. That’s why we’ve embraced community involvement and volunteerism as one of our core values.

As a team, we’ve lent a hand collectively on several projects. We’re semi-regular volunteers at the Food Bank of Larimer County (as much as our schedule and theirs lines up), participated Rotary Club’s Adopt a Family program at Christmas and helped Generation United with painting projects. Many of our staff are involved in their own volunteer efforts and, as typical OTM over-excitement about things goes, all of us will talk your ear off about our passions if you let us. Instead, we’ll dish it out in blog form.

Rebecca Ellington, PR Specialist: I’m on Generation United’s steering committee. We help the organization find new ways for young professionals to get involved in their community, and raise funds for students to help area students succeed in school.

Spencer Flores, Developer: I’m helping organize WordCamp 2018 in Denver. It’s a conference for everyone in Colorado who uses WordPress. I’m helping plan, do A/V and site development. Oh, and trying to keep my coworkers from crashing our video conferences for their own amusement. That’s a large part of my workload. Thanks a lot, guys.

Katie Hutmacher, Designer: I’m involved with Fort Collins Reads’ marketing committee, helping spread the word about the one community, one book event and author talk. This year’s book is Manhattan Beach by Jennifer Egan, so I’m excited to help bring her to town.

Stacia Fortenbery, Digital Strategy Specialist: I volunteer extensively with the Human Fund. It’s not a thing, but it could be. Money for people!

Val Kailburn, Art Director/Founder: I serve on the PSD Foundation’s board, helping raise money to give grants to exceptional teachers. I’m also a Rotarian, and am involved in many of Rotary Club’s events and fundraisers, including the Fort Collins Peach Festival. That’s my way of saying I’m going to be asking you to buy peaches this August.

Kerrie Luginbill, Creative Director/Partner: I really like to stay active and feel that community support is a responsibility of every business owner. Because of that, I’m really involved in Rotary Club (communications chair, public relations chair and a member of the Peach Festival’s race committee). I’m also secretary and on the executive committee for Project Self-Sufficiency, a volunteer coordinator for BBBrew for Hope, sit on the public relations committee for the Colorado Roofing Association and volunteer as a judge for DECA district and state competitions. Now you see trying to make plans with me after work is a total nightmare.

Matt Schild, Brand Strategy Specialist: I’m the “words guy” in the office, and apparently also out of the office. I’m the secretary and sit on the board of trustees for the Poudre River Library District, sit on the primary committee and act as marketing committee chair for Fort Collins Reads (where I give Katie the same malformed art direction as in the office). I’m also a founder and presenter for OpenSpace FoCo, an organization that promotes cross-marketing between musicians, poets and novelists with quarterly reading/concerts and other events.
