 The Colorado specialists in the medicine of motion, Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies (OCR) has been an OTM client for more than 8 years and counting. What began as a website and digital marketing partnership now spans the entire marketing funnel, with OTM serving as a creative partner to OCR’s internal marketing team.

One of our favorite campaigns to partner with OCR on each year is their Total Joint Surgery Walk, a free 5K walk/run for all current and past OCR patients that celebrates their regained mobility. In 2020, OTM and OCR took the Joint Walk virtual – and we’re thrilled with the results.

Approach

For many years OCR has hosted a “Total Joint Surgery Walk” 5K, a free 5K walk/run for all current and past OCR patients to celebrate their regained mobility. Historically, this family-friendly was in-person at the OCR Fort Collins location, featuring food, music, and activities such as face painting, a bounce house, and more. 

However, in 2020 and in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we knew that an in-person event wasn’t going to be an option.

Rather than cancel the walk entirely, OTM and OCR transitioned the event to a virtual platform using the activity tracking app Strava – and we’re so glad we did!

RESULTS

Combining email marketing, social media marketing, public relations, and a custom website landing page to promote the Joint Walk in 2021, the walk garnered more than 504 total participants, 398 of whom tracked 41 total hours of activity!
